The Acres of Democrats is one of Southwest Virginia Democrats’ biggest events and a must-attend for everyone in the 9th District.

Each year on Labor Day weekend, Democrats from across Southwest Virginia gather for the largest annual political rally in Western Virginia. Please join Congressman Rick Boucher and other party leaders for a fun-filled day of fellowship and food. Additional details will be posted in the coming weeks.

1) Take 81 to Wytheville and then get on 77 South towards Charlotte.

2) Take Exit 14 and go west towards Galax. Continue west on Route 58 about 9 miles. 

3) Turn Right onto Country Club Lane. (about 2 miles after you pass Wal-Mart)

Because our usual meeting day fell on Super Bowl Sunday, and because I am severely outnumbered by men, the SWVA YDs decided to make our February meeting the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner in Richmond. U.S. Senator Barack Obama is the speaker at this February 17th event. The SWVA YDs are sponsoring a table, and I think we’ll have a great time. We’ll post an update on the success of this event at a later date.

 The next meeting of the SWVA YDs will be March 4, 2007 at a location to be announced.
